Spanish 1

This course teaches the fundamentals of listening, speaking, reading and writing in the Spanish and English languages. Spanish culture, history, and geography is also studied. The Latin-American form of Spanish is emphasized.

 

Spanish 2

This course expands the skills of Spanish 1, increasing the emphasis on conversation, vocabulary building, and writing. The study of Spanish culture, history, and geography is continued. Communication in past and future time frames will be introduced.

 

Spanish 3

The skills developed in Spanish 1 and 2 are applied to increasing conversational ability. A review and development of grammar is continued. Spanish culture, history, and geography are re-explored in a variety of ways. Communication in past, present and future time frames will be continued as well as introducing expressing hopes, desires and doubts.

The College Now Spanish series is a three trimester offering that consists of Spanish 101, 102, and 103. They are comprehensive review classes meant for students who have successfully completed through Spanish year 3. In special circumstances, Seniors who have completed the Spanish 2B course will be considered based on recommendation from their previous instructor. These are courses designed to review each year of Spanish in one Trimester.

Advanced Spanish and Spanish for Native Speakers

Advanced Spanish is a course for any student who has completed Spanish 103 and is looking to continue their practice of  the language.  In this course we continue on with curriculum parallel to the 200 series at the college level.

Japanese I

Japanese 1 will focus on learning Hiragana, and some Kanji characters. The study of Japanese culture will be a focus as we look at life in Japan, anime and Japanese films. Building vocabulary and basic communication skills in reading, writing speaking and listening will be stressed.
